Senior reporter/business and technology news (2001-2009)

• Wrote a mix of hard news, trend features and enterprise packages that frequently went to 1A or the centerpiece of the Sunday business section. Covered technology, consumer trends, the economy, small business, corporate strategy, the workplace and the housing market.

• Covered IBM Corp. with breaking news and in-depth features, including reports on outsourcing to India, executive strategy, annual meetings, pensions and scientific breakthroughs.

• Proposed Parents' Place blog (http://parentsplace.lohudblogs.com/) and contributed more than 600 posts since it was created in July 2006.

• Developed parenting as adjunct beat, writing news stories about such topics as software for babies, tech toys, parents in the workplace, “mompreneurs” and an award-winning report on protecting kids from online porn.

• Used Web social networking tools, including Twitter, to source stories and engage the community in discussions.

• Took lead role in yearly business special section, developing the theme, generating budget lines, coaching reporters and writing the lead story. Topics included business of health care, diversity and the local work force.

• Took photos for the newspaper and blog. Arranged photo and video shoots. Produced video segments, recorded voice-overs and appeared as an on-camera reporter during partnership with WRNN. Reported and assigned graphics.

Special editor/business news (1999 to 2001)

• In charge of Monday business section, including in-depth corporate profiles. Edited and designed business section fronts. Coached reporters. Edited photos and charts. Chose wire stories.

The Advocate/Greenwich Time (Daily newspapers in southern Connecticut)

• Responsible for eight business sections a week. Led staff of four. Assigned stories, photos and graphics. Edited and rewrote stories. Coached writers and coordinated free-lancers. Supervised production. Designed centerpieces and special sections. Hired and evaluated staff. Coordinated with business community. Participated in senior editorial and key management meetings. Wrote features and breaking news stories.

News editor/assistant news editor/copy editor (1995-1998)

• In the slot four nights a week with responsibility for A1 page design, headlines, captions and editing. Led nightly news meeting. Rewrote stories and edited photos and charts. Supervised nine-person copy desk. Trained and hired staff.

Taconic Media (Publisher of six weekly newspapers for Dutchess County, N.Y.)

Weekend editor/senior reporter (1993-1995)

• As the Weekend section editor, edited and supervised design and production of 40- to 56-page arts and entertainment weekly. Liaisoned with arts community. Assigned feature stories to staff of 11 reporters. Coordinated photographers and columnists and coached interns.

• As senior reporter and photographer, wrote in-depth package on the death penalty in New York, reported on local cross-burning and covered community news.
